All Inland Cities Need a Floating Harbour
Today was fresh and showery, but when not showering Bristol city centre was looking rather lovely, and all the pennants on the ships and boats were straining for the sea.

In between various necessary tasks I walked around, collecting more Aardman statue sightings:

These were eked out with some Gromits and Feathers McGraws:

Oh, and this unassuming building is the studio of Aardman Animations, where the magic happens:

It's strangely calming to come down to a city centre and find boats and sunshine. Maybe it's not Venice, but Bristol has its own charm:

If you want a soundtrack for this post, you could do worse than this.

We enjoyed our day trip to Bristol. We must do it again some time we're staying in Cardiff.

My husband knew it well in his youth (he lived for a while in Bath), but it's changed considerably since then. I'd only visited once before, getting on for 40 years ago, when my brother lived there after finishing university. I didn't really remember it at all so it was new to me, but definitely felt it was worth another visit.

I certainly recommend it - and would be happy to meet up if you came.
