Eldritch Encounters
This picture is on the wall of my local cafe at the moment. I don't know its official title, but I like to think of it as a symbol of the complex lineage of British children's fantasy.

"The Lonely Love Child of Blodeuwedd and Christopher Robin"

[ETA: It turns out that the picture is really called "Fur and Feathers" and is by Bristol artist Rosie Webb. And yes, I bought a framed version.]

Meanwhile, today at the Awfully Big Blog Adventure I wrote "Sir Gradgrind and the Great Amphibium", in defence of fantasy.

Oh, I like that. The boots are the best part I think

Yes. If they were more widely available I'm sure we'd see more owls splashing through puddles - and wouldn't that be a better world?

Oh, dear! Thanks for sharing this (and for the title).

That painting is simultaneously bizarre and cute. :)

Charming painting, charming post. Thank you!

Weirdly adorable!

Looks like a Boxen character to me. Though Viscount Puddiphat is supposed to be something of a dandy, so I don't think he's likely to show up in wellies. Perhaps they're meant to be red leather?
